Industrial chic meets city glam in this Circuit Center wedding. Allison and Ron wanted to combine two seemingly opposite styles, but the results were downright gorgeous. With a mix of sophisticated sparkle and urban grit, their wedding is the perfect example of blending looks and doing it well. A color palette of plum, gray, lavender, and charcoal set the scene at this blank slate Pittsburgh wedding venue that really allowed the couple to show off their unique vision. A combination of square, round, and long tables were dressed in linens in the day’s hues and accented with a mix of black chiavari and metallic cameleon chairs from All Occasions Party Rental. Dark and moody floral arrangements from The Farmer’s Daughter and an abundance of candlelight helped to set the mood, while a watercolor-inspired wedding cake from Bethel Bakery was the perfect finishing touch. With some expert design and planning advice from A & L Events, Allison and Ron pulled off a celebration that was one part classic and one part modern, but all around beautiful. Check out the footage from Kathryn Hyslop Photography and Traveling Heart Productions to see if you don’t agree!

About the Couple

We met at the Pirates home opener back in 2013. We have our friends, Ryan and Victoria, to thank. They worked together and decided to meet up at a tailgate Ryan’s friends were hosting. Victoria and I decided to go to this tailgate and you can say the rest is history. Three days later, Ron texted me and we planned our first date.

Fast forward five years later on the anniversary of their first date and Ron decided to take me on a spontaneous walk around PNC Park. On the river walk, I was being a little suspicious as to why we were going on a walk around the park. When no one was around, Ron got down on one knee to pop the question and, of course, I said YES!

About the Wedding

From the beginning, we wanted our wedding to be in the city. We wanted a chic look but also wanted to pay homage to the industrial style. We seemed to gravitate to the dark and moody colors that seemed so appropriate for the fall season. Plum, lavender, gray, and charcoal were the primary colors, with pops of rose gold.

As we visited venues in the city, we found it was increasingly difficult to find a venue we wanted that would accommodate our guest total. We saw the Circuit Center and Ballroom as a venue that provided us a blank slate to create the city chic and industrial look we wanted. A & L Events helped bring our vision of romantic industrial chic to life!

Another big theme we wanted to touch on was family and how the people who passed on were still there with us on the big day. I carried something old from each of my grandparents in my bouquet. The most noticeable was my grandfather’s silver star he earned in World War II. We also incorporated my other grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary flutes and cake knife into our day.

Most importantly, we needed our pup to be a part of the day somehow. Gia came along for our first look, sporting her very own custom dress.

My parents were even a big part of making different items for their day – from the twinkle trees on the stage to the custom photo booth backdrop that took so many hours to make. Family means so much to us and we were so happy to have small pieces of them incorporated throughout the day.
