You’ve probably heard that Branson has something for everyone, and that doesn’t exclude your four-legged furry friend. Leaving your dog when going on vacation shouldn’t always be the standard. It’s time to load your dog up in the car because we are going on an adventure!

Day One // Early Morning

Getting Started

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (1)

First, you will need to secure lodging. Branson is home to lots of pet-friendly vacation rentals that will be perfect for you and your dog. There are at least a dozen dog-friendly hotels, like the Hilton Branson Convention Center at Branson Landing and the Chateau on the Lake which overlooks Table Rock Lake.

If a hotel isn’t your style, consider staying at a cabin or vacation rental. Branson Family Retreats and Rent Branson are both great pet-friendly options. These vacation homes are perfect for big families and will have enough outdoor space for dogs to run and enjoy the fresh air outdoors.

Other Pet-Friendly Lodging Options:
The Ozarker Lodge

  • Westgate Branson Lakes Resort at Emerald Pointe
La Quinta by Wyndham
The Gazebo Inn

Once you get settled into your vacation rental, it’s time to grab some delicious breakfast. Remi and I started our day off at . They have everything from quiche to breakfast sandwiches, as well as great coffee. All dogs are required to stay on the outdoor patio. They have many tables available with umbrellas for shade and a gorgeous fountain out front. I brought Remi’s collapsible dog bowl to ensure she does not get dehydrated and a little breakfast for her too. I ordered the quiche with a side of fruit and a Treat Yourself Latte—made with caramel, vanilla, and white chocolate—which is one of my all-time favorites.

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (2)

Once Remi and I were done eating our breakfast, we went over to Buster’s Old Time Photos (multiple location) with some friends. This is such a unique activity to do with your pet that is also a great souvenir to bring home. They have different outfits to wear, including ones for your dog! They also offer props and special effects to make the photos even more fun and memorable. You will feel like you stepped back in time as you explore their different backdrops, such as a Victorian home and saloon.

Day One // Afternoon

Hitting the Trail

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (3)

After getting our photos taken, we decided to pack some lunch and head over to the Ozark Mountains to hike. Branson has many great options of outdoor trails to explore. One of Remi’s favorite hiking spots is the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area. This trail is located in the heart of Branson but is also very secluded with its 140 acres. The lakeside views are breathtaking and perfect for taking in the beauty of this truly special outdoor area. Be sure to wear durable shoes though, as the rocky terrain can be uneven, and the trails have slight changes in altitude. Bring enough water and snacks to stay fueled on your journey (for you and your pup). I also always use my hands-free dog leash and harness for Remi. This makes it easier for me to safely get around on the trails. Some other notable trails in Branson are the Ruth and Paul Henning trail, Table Rock Lakeshore Trail, White River Valley Trail System and Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area.

Day One // Evening

Did Somebody Say Dinner?

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (4)

Once we worked up an appetite after our hike, we decided to check out Bricktown Brewery on the Branson Landing. They opened a location in Branson in 2023 and have a beautiful view of Lake Taneycomo. The food is delicious and loaded with flavor, and the craft beers are always cold and refreshing. They specialize in burgers and pizzas but have other options as well. All dogs must sit on the spacious outdoor patio which overlooks the lake. During the warm summer months, consider bringing protective footwear for your dog. The pavement at the Branson Landing is typically very warm and could damage your dog’s paws.

Day One // Late Evening

Time for a Treat

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (5)

Then we walked over to one of Remi’s favorite pet stores in Branson: Don’t 4 Get About Me. This store is located on the Branson Landing and sells unique pet gifts and treats. She specifically loves their peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats! After a quick stop there, we walked over to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some goodies. This is also located on the Branson Landing and is just a short walk away. They make everything from chocolate clusters, caramels, truffles, and of course dipped dog bones! These bones are dipped in 100% dog-safe white confection. Remi got an order of their delicious bones and I ordered some chocolate truffles. This place is truly a chocolate lover's paradise (just don’t feed your dog the chocolate)!

Day Two // Morning

All Paws on Deck

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (6)

The next day, we headed over to State Park Marina to rent a boat for the day. The vast lake provides ample space for you and your pup to explore the various sites, such as the Table Rock Dam, pristine water, and lush green trees. Renting a boat is relatively easy as all you must do is fill out the rental request and pay the necessary fees. With the marina being conveniently located next to many of the hiking trails, you are sure to have a unique and beautiful adventure with your favorite four-legged pal!

Day Two // Afternoon

Hit the Cafe

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (7)

I always bring a lifejacket for Remi if she wants to do any swimming and her paw & nose sun protection. Also, make sure to grab some food and a water bowl for your pup. These hot summer days can make it easy for your dog to get dehydrated quickly.

Once we were done on the lake, we went over to Portside Pizza at State Park Marina. This place is located right on the lake which makes it easy to access from water or land. They specialize in their 14" St Louis Thin Crust pizzas, but also sell wings, sandwiches, salads, and more!

Day Three // Morning

Pancakes with a View

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (8)

The next day we started the morning early by grabbing breakfast at Hungry Hunter to go. I always get their pancakes because they are so big and delicious! Then I drove the short distance to Table Rock State Park to enjoy my breakfast with Remi. I packed her some dog biscuits and water. I found a picnic table overlooking the lake with the morning fog overtop. This is such a pretty spot, especially in the morning!

Day Three // Afternoon

Pick Your Trail

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (9)

Once we were done eating and relaxing, we hit up some of the trails nearby. If you are looking for an easy trail, then definitely check out Table Rock Lakeshore Trail. This is a paved trail that is 4.4 miles in length. However, it does not loop so feel free to turn around at any time. If you are looking for a more challenging hike nearby, go to the White River Trail System. This has four different trail heads: Red, Blue, Orange, and Green. This trail is unpaved, and all four trails are 11.5 miles total. With its picturesque views and wide variety of activities, the White River Trail is an ideal way to explore the Ozarks and take in the beauty of Branson.

If you would rather take a short road trip instead of a hike, consider going to Fantastic Caverns in Springfield, Missouri. This cave is pet-friendly and was even discovered by a dog. John Knox was a farmer in the area and sent his bloodhound out to track down an animal on the property. The Bloodhound, Juno, finally tracked the animal all the way to an obscure opening at the base of a bluff and went inside. Juno became stuck inside the cave and finally Knox had to go after him. Knox went into the cave and safely retrieved his dog. Today, Fantastic Caverns remains pet-friendly. Your dog does need to stay on a leash and in the tram during the entire duration of the tour. This is a great activity that you and your dog will enjoy together

Day Three // Evening

A Peaceful Picnic

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (10)

When dinner time came around, we drove to Billy Bob’s Dairyland for a bite to eat. I grabbed a burger and fries and went over to Murphy Park. This is a very short drive and has a peaceful atmosphere. There is also lots of shade for your dog during the summer season.

Day Three // Nighttime

A Cone to Remember

The Ulti-Mutt Pet Friendly Weekend (11)

To end the night, we went over to YOLO Rolled Ice Cream. Their freshly prepared ice cream rolls are made right in front of you after ordering. Customers can choose from a variety of flavors like brownie, thin mint, cereal milk and many more. The ice cream is then enhanced with a variety of tasty toppings and placed into a cup, cone, waffle taco or even made into a waffle sundae. They also have more fruity flavors to choose from, as well as gelato. I ordered the Caramel Pretzel. Make sure to also order a pup cup for your dog so you both can cool down after a long day. Thankfully, dogs are welcomed inside, so enjoy the air conditioning while you relax with your sweet treats.

More Places for your Pup to Stay and Play

If you want to see a Branson show, sit indoors at a restaurant, or anything else that does not allow dogs, then check out our doggie daycare options. Camp Little Paws and the Branson Pet Resort are both great options that allow your dogs to spend an evening or longer at the facility. The daycare staff will provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and socialization for your pup so they can have a great vacation too! Occasionally boarding your dog will give you the freedom to enjoy everything Branson has to offer!

Also, consider checking out Elmo & Rosalea Marrs Memorial Dog Park located at Stockstill Park in Branson. This will allow your dog to run, play, socialize, and exercise off-leash. You can purchase a 1-Day or a 3-Day Pass to the Dog Park. You can fill out the form to obtain this pass at bransonmo.gov.

Spending a day in Branson with your dog is an amazing experience that would be fun for everyone! I hope you keep these itinerary items in mind on your next adventure to Branson.
