As the unit is continually working to maintain the 99.5°F temperature, the heat indicator light will regularly blink. This is to inform the user that the heater is properly working.

To reset the incubator, press and hold both “Menu” and “-” buttons for more than 5 seconds. The incubator will beep and the display will blink one time, indicating that the incubator has successfully been reset. The timer will then restart the countdown from 21 days.

If the red light on the Conturn Power Adapter is present, your turners are working. Since they move very slowly over time, you can take a picture of where you racks currently and come back 30 minutes later. You should then be able to see a change in placement.

Humidity Control

The ideal humidity level for hatching eggs is still being debated among experts, but many agree that it should not fall below 25% or above 60% between setting and three days prior to hatching. During the last three days (the "lock-down" period), the humidity level should be increased to between 70-80%.

If the room is too cold or exposed to draughts then incubator will be unable to regulate the temperature, this can cause the heating element to fail. Check the fan. Check nothing is caught or obstructing the fan from working continuously.

If a ring of red is visible within the egg, there was an embryo at some point, but it has died. Remove this egg from the incubator. The two best pieces of advice during this stage: don't help a chick hatch from its egg and don't open the incubator if chicks are hatching or there are pips in unhatched eggs. The proper humidity and temperature are crucial for the chicks to hatch properly.

During the last 3 days (the hatching period) the relative humidity should be nearer 65-70 percent. Too much moisture in the incubator prevents normal evaporation and results in a decreased hatch, but excessive moisture is seldom a problem in small incubators.

Early death: Insufficient turning can cause embryo death between days 3 and 6 of the incubation period for chickens.

I find humidity in the 40-45% is actually better for my hatches than the recommended 50% or so. If your humidity is not getting high enough add more water, add water to the B side if necessary, and adding hot water will bump up the humidity quicker, but it will likely drop once the water temp reaches incubator temp.
