Can We Use Flashpay Id to Transfer to and from Chime? (2024)

Flashpay Id and Chime Spending Account are from two different financial institutions. Thanks to convenient features, both services have been able to attract customers over the past years. Since they have different features, people might want to use them both. In this case, they may want to transfer money between their Flashpay account and Chime account.

In this post, we will learn if we can use Flashpay Id to send money to or receive money from Chime. If can’t, what are alternatives?

What is Flashpay Id?

First, we need to understand that Flashpay Id is an identification code that a financial company, called Netspend, uses to identify one’s Netspend account. If you know someone else’s Flashpay Id, you can easily send money to that person. Likewise, you can share your Flashpay Id to receive money from someone who has a Netspend account.

This means that you cannot use Flashpay Id to send or receive funds to or from Chime. But, don’t worry. If you have a Netspend account and want to transfer to Chime, there is still a way.

How to Transfer from Netspend to Chime

In addition to using Flashpay Id for transfer, you can direct deposit into your bank account or into your PayPal account.

Bank Direct Deposit

Currently, Chime does not support Netspend for its bank transfer. However, If you have a bank account from one of the following banks and can send money to the account, then you can move the fund from the bank account to your Chime account.

  • Chase
  • Bank of America
  • Wells Fargo
  • Citi
  • US Bank
  • USAA
  • Fidelity
  • PNC Bank
  • Capital One 360
  • TD Bank
  • SunTrust
  • Navy Federal
  • Charles Schwab

This needs an extra step but it does the job.

Use PayPal

Netspend is a PayPal company and Chime supports PayPal. This means you can use your PayPal account as a medium to move funds across Netspend and Chime. The steps will be similar to using bank transfer. But to do this, you first have to link PayPal to your Netspend account. Linking PayPal to your Netspend account works exactly the same way you link with your bank account.

  1. On PayPal, you will need to add a new account using the “Link a Card or Bank Account” button.
  2. Then, select “Link a bank account”.
  3. Enter the required information.
  4. It will add random amounts into your Netspend account in several business days.
  5. Once you get them, enter those amounts on PayPal for confirmation.

Repeat these steps to link your Chime account as well.

After you link both accounts, you can use PayPal as a medium to move funds across the Netspend and Chime accounts.

How to Transfer from Chime to Netspend

Once you can link both Netspend and Chime accounts to your PayPal account, transferring from Chime to Netspend is basically the same. You can transfer funds from Chime to your PayPal account and then from PayPal to Netspend.

In addition, from Chime, you can transfer to one of the supporting bank and then from the bank to your Netspend account.

Transfer Limits

When you transfer, one important thing you want to know is how much you can send in maximum. For this, you will want to consider the transfer limits of Chime. According to Chime’s explanation, you can transfer from your external bank account to your Chime Spending Account:

  • $200 in maximum per day
  • $1,000 in maximum per month

The Chime’s explanation, however, does not clearly state about transferring from PayPal. The same maximum rules may apply.

People’s Interest in Flashpay and Chime

In the beginning of this post, I mentioned that Netspend and Chime have gained people’s interest over the past years. How can we gauge that?

Google Trends

When I research a product or a service, I often use Google Trends. It is an extremely helpful service by Google that gives you a historical Google search trend. The idea is that if a product or a company can maintain or can increase its search volume over many years, it supports the quality of the product. If a product is bad, people won’t show their interest and eventually will never search for the product anymore.

Since it can give you the historical search volumes, you can refer to the trend to measure people’s interest.

First, let’s see the trend of Netspend.
